About Legacy International

legacy_logoAt Legacy International  we believe that the most effective and sustainable solutions come from strong civil society and social innovators.  Since 1979, we have been working to help citizens create increasingly cooperative and productive lives; strengthening civil society so citizens can sustainably address their most pressing issues. Legacy is working with the U.S. Department of State in the TechGirls initiative.

The TechGirls exchange program aims to inspire girls from the Middle East and North Africa to pursue higher education and careers in technology through hands-on skills development.

In June 2013, 27 teen-age girls (ages 15-17) from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen will travel to the United States for a three-week exchange. While in the United States, TechGirls  will participate in an interactive technology and computer camp, be hosted by technology companies for a day of job shadowing, and participate in community service initiatives.

The TechGirls program builds on the U.S. global commitment to advance the rights of women and girls around the world.
